Did anyone else happen to see today’s “Rhymes With Orange”? (arcamax)

I wonder if she can paint the SHIELD OF BORINGNESS since that’s about she sees in Marigold.

I want Phoebe’s parents…

Shield of Boringness failure?

I think since Phoebe is immune to the SOB (that or the shield was temporarily let down after Marigold got hit with a rock) then Phe’s mom is immune as well and see her for what she is, a unicorn. But I could be wrong, we’ll just have to see what Phe’s mom paints.

Actually, I made the same mistake. Assuming it is a mistake. :-/Does anyone else read the comic title and set it to “Beautiful Dreamers”?

If the Shield of Boringness weren’t in effect for Phoebe’s mom, her reaction would be unmitigated awe. Phoebe’s mom is an artist, and thus makes a habit of seeing beauty in the commonplace. So even though the Shield of Boringness is up, she kind of sees through it.

I think I mist the intro of the Shield of Boringness – what is it?

I really like Phoebe’s mom…does anybody else see a resemblance to Dana herself in the character’s depiction?

As an artist, trained to see and convey inner beauty, of_course Phoebe’s mom sees through the veil of the Shield of Boringness! :-)

I like the idea that maybe Phoebe’s mom absolutely HAS to paint every guest who comes to dinner—no matter how boring they seem ;)

Yes, Phoebe’s mom is quite something.

I don’t think the shield has been let down or her mom is immune. I think everyone sees that she is a unicorn, but the shield makes it nothing out of the ordinary. As Marigold said, it makes humans that see unicorns not find it worth even mentioning. So my take has been that if you see a unicorn you know what it is, but you just say ‘meh’.

Dana, assuming you’re married, is Pheobe’s dad your husband?
