A lesson many in the entertainment media still haven’t learned. Remember a few years ago, when Annie was ‘updated’ to make her more relatable. A twelve year old girl wrote to protest, saying that the character was an icon and did not need to be changed. This from a young person, the very audience the media want so badly to reach.

I’m guessing this was in the 1950s; in panel 4, they look like Ed Norton and The Beaver.

…Exturk , I’m glad to see (I assume) another person who doesn’t entirely like the colorizing here !!!!!!!!!!! :-) BTW , have the present-day strips been re-lettered , as well ??? It should be said , however , that Little Orphan Annie got discontinued as a new strip in the Seventies , going to reprints then , and coming back as " ANNIE " only after the success of the musical ! Tomorrow , tomorrow… If you subscribe to this strip , sometimes you’ll get a B&W version in your mailbox , although I’m unsure if that’s just the colored version with the color still there , just shown in B&W… M&J’s appearance make me think of the " earlier " 50s and Jack Kerouac and NeallCasady (now that the ON THE ROAD movie is coming out) !…
