Those will be gone before you know it. I give them another ten years tops before they’re all replaced by e-textbooks.

e-books do not work for tech manuals. Hard to write notes on the screen. Also page numbering is important when they reference info. and the .pdf images rarely blowup (expand) to a readable format. However for general story book format (english lit and reference books) they work fine.

The e-textbooks, which are already being used in some places, DO have many disadvantages. But they would sure be a lot lighter to carry around than the 50 pounds of books my kids carry around today.

Some schools are actually providing tablets for all the kids to have; they won’t replace all the books of course, but are supposed to make communication better, and a record of what was required and done.

Agent54: they work if they’re interactive, and connected to a program like Word.

The father speaks like someone who has not been to public school in the last 20 years.

Those books tell you some of this teachers are still stuck somewhere in my era…the mid-20th Century.
