well it is the New Year… for those that follow the Jewish calendar

Some vintages age better than others.

I kind of like a flashback now and then. Get to see some of the old stuff from long ago. Especially when it kind of goes along with the current theme.

Give Greg a break. A cliffhanger is good every now and then.

This strip’s come a long way since 1988 (as have we all). Cartoonists mature, figure out their characters, polish their visual style (through Evans has been remarkably consistent).Hope he enjoys his vacation … and that it doesn’t last too long!

The one thing that bugs me about this strip is that, as currently drawn, Luann DID indeed become a young woman worthy of such male attention, but the strip often will still operate as if she is still in her ugly phase. C.f. about a year or two ago, when she replaces Tiffany in the dunking booth and all of a sudden all the boys make themselves scarce.

I can’t even remember 1988.

Too bad that Greg didn’t draw a Tiffany Lamp to accessorize the poster. But maybe they were too expensive and classy for Luann.

Otto – if you are out there, I just want to pay this overdue accolade: It’s great, really great, that Greg went to the lengths he did to pay tribute to not just you, but your entire continent/country with the Big Quill adventure. So much more satisfying than honoring you as an individual. There. Somebody had to say it. Or croak it. :-)

AHA, so Greg works 8 hours a day writing one strip, 6 days a week – Sundays he always phones it in – so that when he goes on vacation they have to run repeats, huh? Yeah, I buy that.

given that he sends strips WEEKS AHEAD!, and what Greg wrote in his blog, Greg IS NOT on vacation, he decided to sent flashbacks for this week during the time he was VERY BUSY running and producing the play he talks about in his blog

Greg is one of the better syndicated artists regarding schedule. Some of them run incredibly close to deadline and no amount of late fees seems to deter them.

Just how old is Puddles?

I’m going to guess that we go through a series of these year by year until we get to now, then have Luann become 17..Just a guess.

If Puddles was alive in 1988 and it is now 2012 that’s 24 years later that dog would be 168 years old! If Luann was 11 in 1988 then she should be around 35 years old??
