Seriously for a moment, I have always felt deeply disturbed by beheadings, and all executions to some extent.

Enlarged image can be found here or at Mr. Melcher’s blog entry. The Execution of Lady Jane Grey is described in its current-location page (the source of the different coloration title image) and in the painting’s Wikipedia page (also has links to the historical characters). If you want to examine the painting in more detail, click the Full screen icon, at the bottom right corner of the current-location page image, to open an interactive image.Shorter descriptions can be found here, along with a different coloration, click-to-enlarge image, or here, or here.In addition to the video in the current-location page, another video can be found here. A BBC radio broadcast about the 9 Day Queen can be found here. Different coloration images can be found here and here, but there are many different coloration and detail images available online. The artist’s Wikipedia page and collection (more under Subcategories).Second of the 2 works by this artist/teacher, that have, so far, appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog, to also appear here.

@mabrndt: I can’t remember whether I have said so or not, so let me be sure and tell you that I appreciate your annotations to the strip. Even on those occasions when the humor might fall a little flat, at least I have a good chance of learning something. Thanks!

In this case, “Bring out the soft cushion!” has a bit more horror to it.

(mis)Thinking it was a Beatles song, I thought of Jane Asher too, but then I looked up the lyrics, and saw Jagger and Richards wrote it.If you go to the other reply link, some speculate Lady Jane is Jane Seymour, not the actress, while others speculate Lady Jane is Lady Chatterly’s vagina; Jane Grey is considered unlikely; no mention of Jane Asher.
