Love the perspective, Scott! Excellent rendering! And, of course, amusing as always, John!

Yes, unions were created to protect workers against exploitation. But what happens to so many good movements happened to unions as well: a few power hungry individuals push their way into the leadership, and steer the whole ship in a wrong-headed direction. Greed ruined the unions, and they became as evil as the bosses they once stood against.

Rita would be there 24/7 just because…and thinks all others should be like her. So sad what has happened with unions. If it weren’t for them, there wouldn’t BE a Labor Day, paid sick leave, 40 hour work week, and so many other things we now take for granted. The pendulum swings both ways, so maybe one day they’ll come back strong. (Yes, I’m union.)

The right for children to work?!?!?!?!?!?!? Does this knucklehead have any idea whatsoever the kinds of conditions children were forced to work under before child labor laws and unions? The right-wing ideology is replacing Disney as America’s greatest generator of fantasy.

Yeah, I think working for money is a great motivator for kids. Maybe we wouldn’t have this obesity problem if kids had something to do besides play, which they don’t do outdoors anymore, i.e wii and x-box. Somebody a long time ago destroyed the youth work ethic by complaining about harsh working conditions. I’ll bet it was mostly fabricated and exaggerated.

I had to take early retirement because my department was outsourced. Not to India but to New Jersey!

The only labor Rita can expect to see today is if she is 9 months pregnant and goes into it.
