    To everyone who has never actually read The Prince and its context, Machiavelli was a supporter of democracy and wrote The Prince while in exile to essentially tell how the then-current prince could become an even bigger douchebag than he already was. It was the 15th century version of The Colbert Report.

    Are you talking about GALILEO, perhaps??? And, if he DID say anything like that, it would have been beyond anyone’s hearing. He was not a world class jerk, either. That would have been those who opposed hid teaching, which was really nothing new, but had been known for centuries!!!!!
