Transcript:
Evelyn: I just love the changing of the seasons, Professor. Professor: As Blake once said, Evelyn... "O Autumn, laden with fruit! ... pass not, but sit beneath my shady roof!" Evelyn: I bet you even have a poem about falling leaves. Professor: "What visionary tints the year puts on, when falling leaves fatter through motionless air..." Evelyn: Oh!! Look at those clouds... and me without my raincoat... Professor: "And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the gnomes of the field; they toil not, neither do they spin..." Gnome: Look! I can spin! He meant, "spin wool," you jerk! Jeez!

“… gnomes of the field …”???
I know, I know, it is only a comic. But it is “… lilies of the field …” The ‘perfesser’ has lost it big time. I guess this is one more reason he is out to pasture and not teaching.
