I predict Terry will deliver a few big hits, then he’ll start getting burned on long pass plays. There’s no way he could know enough football already not to be fooled.
Here’s my call…. interception for a TD!! I’ve gotten two right so far on this storyline. Why not three for three? This will make NO sense as a rugby player wouldn’t really know how to defend a forward pass as the sport has none. Still, in rugby, there is a player that does do the same thing as a safety, hanging back as the last defender in case a runner breaks through.
kdizzle- Milford at Oakwood, they have a nicer pressbox. P1- Sinister, dark and coniving Moonpie, the way we Thor p fans love it. P3- Free Safety has the fewest resposibility in the secondary. I predict Terry arrives in bad humor (quote from Bowden Wyatt, old UT Coach) and causes a fumble.
Let’s keep talking about the Bears. Maybe Terry will pull a Doug Plank and will provide Oakwood with some hard late hits. “Uh Terry, I know that you have only practiced once or twice, and you have never played American football, or studied the rules, but do you want to play Free Safety?”
I know it’s a different country but the first time I was in Scotland in 1982 my lady friend’s cousin and his pals were watching the NFL (a week later) on the telly. Trust me, a rugby player or a European footballer (soccer player) is going to know a lot more about the NFL type football than you all are giving Terry credit for. Again Ireland and Scotland are divided by water but thirty years ago the Scots knew football so I’ll bet you in 2012 the Irish do too. This strip is supposed to be taking place in 2012 is it not?
Preposterous…..after last year’s debacle, Gil is willing to risk the wrath of Wildcat by letting this guy in a 0-0 opening game? Ron Zook wouldn’t even do that!He really must be ready to take the full time assistant pro job at Milford CC!
I know they get NFL games in the UK, but Terry has said that he has no idea what he’s doing, so obviously he wasn’t tuning in. WIth that in mind, Free Safety? Maybe throw him in for a blitz, but jumping is as the last line of defense is a pretty big order for a kid who didn’t know what American football was a week ago.

What’s with the collar on Terry’s football jersey? He looks like he’s wearing an astronaut suit. Maybe it’s a Neil Armstrong tribute.

I think both Gil and Marty might have gone in for a little work during the offseason. They both look about ten years younger than they did last year.

How about Terry intercepts a pass but runs the wrong way for a safety?

I’m with Mop ‘n’ Glo above . . . I say he pulls a Jim Marshall and scores two for the bad guys.

I hope Gil doesn’t teach the kind of arm tackling on display in P2.

Free Safety does whatever he wants, cuz he’s FREE! At least until he’s incarcerated…

Thinking just the opposite, our lad Terry feeling confident with a helmet will go to lower the boom, but end up with a concussion.
