Joe: Sigh... another note from your teacher? Danae: Oh, I wouldn't read it if I were you, Daddy... Joe: Uh... why not? Danae: It's full of bad news, which, by definition, is offensively biased against my culture! Joe: Wait... your culture? Danae: Yes... in my culture it's highly offensive to be told things we don't want to hear. Joe: So... this culture of yours is based on staying ignorant? Danae: I prefer to call it the pursuit of perpetual bliss.

If ignorance is bliss most of the world should be whole lot happier.

I’ve got a friend who’s 26 year old son acts just like this. He got booted from college 3 years ago and delivers sandwiches. I guess his dad pays for his gas.

Feets - Sometimes, circumstantial evidence is enough:
Yale accepts about 9% of applicants, and here are the test scores required: Test score ranges (25th to 75th percentiles) for enrolled freshman:
SAT-Verbal: 700-800 SAT-Math: 700-780 SAT-Writing: 700-790
http://www.yale.edu/admit/visit/facts.html
Bush II proudly told us he was a C student, and there’s no evidence at all that his verbal, math or writing skills are anywhere near the admissions range - in fact, there’s plenty of evidence to the contrary.
Yale has a strong tradition of giving the children of alumni a leg up, and it’s reasonable to assume Bush II needed a big one.
I doubt if there is any way to test or document the theory that Bush got better grades than he deserved, but given his history of failing to do much homework (which he continued through his tenure in the Whitehouse), and given that his father was an important national leader, alumni and donor, it is human nature, and likely that his professors gave him at least a little leeway.
