I can definitely see now why she hates Topsiders so much, and why she’s so terrified of them when confronted with them directly. Also, her breakdown (or what we called the Blackie Blackout) back when the Rocket mission failed and the Topsiders surrounded the PT makes a lot of sense now.
Petey2b better be working on an escape plan for her! :( I hope he hadn’t just left her there. Though knowing what ends up happening to him, I assume we haven’t seen the last of him.

How much of this is Flask and how much is Aaron N.? You kinda have to live this to write it I would think. Scarry. More, more, more. Sock it too us Aaron.Blessed Be
So, there are places and things in the colony that not everyone knows about. Secrets within secrets and plans wrapped within intrigue. What else is there that only a few people are privy to?
We thought that Flask killed the sand child out of pity. Now it looks like she may have done it because Sandy resembled this thing, including the prongs at the end of the tentacle.
The sand child had no one. Until this time with Aaron and the time with PT2B, neither did she. Flask in her state of mind at the time ended the sand child’s greatest pain of lonelinessas best she knew how. That would be my guest.I gotta go to work. Happy day to all of you.
Gotta say that today’s strip really caught me off guard in regard to the art. The borderless, stark black cage, bringing a roughly hewn Flask into sharp focus, combined with the dialogue of desperation – perfect story-telling for a scenario that dares show the sympathetic origins of an “evil” character. This ain’t your daddy’s funny pages!
everything y’all said I agree with but I just gotta say the artwork today is fabulous….really puts you in the mindset of what Flask was going through….Wow!!
That she had a tail, that she didn’t have later, I was both happy then sad seeing it. Still having a difficultly with my com puter. I’m going to see if I can get to the rest of the comments. This one today os awesome. Aaron did you use a different technique, like scratchboard? .
I confess when I left work yesterday I found myself wanting to hug Flask and rescue her from that dark place — and I’m neither the hugging or the rescuing type.
Prepping and probing. I said there was a light at the end of the tunnel. I hope she can avoid the train. I remember reading some POW writings about their experiences. I remember one saying the same thing. He was fine in the cell. It is when the door opened he was terrified. He said it took years to get over a door suddenly opening in front of him. Man you can see her pain and it’s not over.
Not just each other. Other life forms have suffered at our hands. We have the capacity to paint the Systine Chapel and then skin someone alive. (I know I spelt Systine wrong just can’t remember it right now). but you get the point. I am a real gentle person but have put a good sight picture on a M16 and took life. We are both saints and sinners. I now protect life but if required to save life I may have to take life.
To Three Steps Over Japan. You mention yesterday they stopped working on the rocket only to start it again when Flask began snooping. Where is that in the script. I do not recall seeing that panel. It took them three years to complete the project apparently after she left which she did or we would not be seeing this story. Look at that world. It took time to gather up the ICBM and APEX components to get it built. Sure they have missiles Surface to Air but nothing to space launch. That is a whole different problem. Ask a rocket scientist how hard it is to get something into space much less achieve orbital velocity.Just the Facts sir. Not speculations. Show me dont tell me. With much respect. Not trying to start an arguement. Where is it they stopped working on the project. And an orbital sat recon device sees more than you can suspect. Not just a small picture. Thousands of miles are visible. Put in heat sensors, mag spectrometers, density spectrometers you would have all you need. Two or three orbits in 90 minutes? Cover all we need. Go to Google Earth and pull up your house in Japan. I did mine. I can even make out the two Subarus I own. Can ever tell them apart and that is from space. 26,000 miles up going over everyday snapping pictures. Heck go out, look up and wave. You may see yourself later.
… are we sure it’s a good thing the Topsiders didn’t get blown up? Because right now, I’m seeing Flask as less of a villain and more of a Byronic Hero – and perhaps a necessary one.
To Jenner, I don’t think Flask is dead. The only evidence AM gave her was the hand through the hand in one frame to break her down. I could give other evidence, but I’m using my tablet keyboard and it’s taking forever to type. Good night, all.

I’m beginning to think Flask adjusted remarkably well, once she escaped. Some people would be totally destroyed by this type of treatment. Think PTSD.

This really is just so very sad. Endtown is simply a phenomenal comic strip.

The saddest part? This is a flashback, told by someone who is already dead. There is no longer any chance to make it right.
