@Eldo – yesterday’s (nudge-wink) comment: Nowadays, Indians seem to prefer less hirsute faces!@Beviek : It was the least I could do for the poor child! And I am her dad’s boss!
I think the moustache however, is becoming something of a spectacle!
My son is a high school sophomore and is thinking of taking next year off from football. Out loud I was trying to talk him out of it, inside I was cheering. I love watching him but I worry too much that he’s going to get hurt. I also won’t miss picking him up from practice 5-6 days per week.
I would say that the reason is that Reg Smyth was the creator of the Andy Capp Strip and the current artists and writers are just employees of the syndicator. Maybe Number 6 can make it clear?
Andy’s mum-in-law doesn’t LIKE Andy, which makes me wonder if she’s a sadist, wanting to join them. (Btw I’ve watched, and played, different sports in MUCH heavier rain than this looks like!)
For comic strip sports that have really HEAVY rain, I think we need to turn to “Peanuts.” A lot of those had Charlie Brown standing on his pitcher’s mound during what looked like monsoon season. And there were times the rain was so heavy that you couldn’t see Charlie Brown, the pitcher’s mound, or his team-mates scrambling for the life-boats!
Gweedo I have missed you! I wanted to post a reply to a post from ages ago and couldnt come up with anything remotely close to your imprimatures….you have the knack!…Yes I finished my trip as planned and enjoyed it immensely over all….there are always those moments arent there?….How is your companion doing?…How goes the road for you? God bless and keep you both. Linda

And never ask ‘what else can happen’ because you always find out.

I really like the way this is drawn today. I like the rainy day strips if they are done well, like Red & Rover, to name one.

There was this poet who always did his best work the first thing in the morning. You could say he went from Bed to Verse.

That’s not enough to wet a postage stamp.

If that ‘tache is genuine, I’m envious. I think I’d keep it a little shorter, though – and I like feeling the kisses I get.
