"Cow, how come a movie is worse than the book it's adapted from?" "Well, trying to adapt written fiction can be difficult when it's forced to follow the 3-act structure of a 2-hour film." "Characterizations and subplots that work in a narrative are dropped, resulting in an experience that is less fulfilling." "Yeah, but what about 'The Cat in The Hat'?" "Oh, I don't know that."
I always want to see the movie after I read the book
I get more out the the movie that way, watching it first does nothing to improve the book
There are exceptions, I didnt like the books for A Perfect Storm or A River Runs Through It
