When I was a kid, most of the time mom would open a can, empty it into a pot of boiling salted water and left it there long enough to turn to mush. I’m guessing a lot of households had a similar dinner rountine which was why so many kids don’t like their veggies. In the summer she kept a small garden and I’d help her out. She was more creative with how she prepared them, and I enjoyed them more. By my teens we bought more fresh or frozen veggies, and I offered to help out in the kitchen.
