Umm, the “Movie Star Mason Jarre Returns to Westview with Girlfriend Cindy Summers for Her 50th High School Reunion and Visits Centerville, Where He Buys the Shuttered Valentine Movie Theatre/Bitty Tar with Help from Lois Flagston and Hires Max and Hannah to Run It for Him” saga occurred in this strip back in September of last year! It doesn’t speak well for the timeliness of the Sentinel’s news or its staff if Skip is just now getting around to covering this story.
A more constructive reply to the reporter’s question would be a ball park estimate date when it might be open – just for the record. Then his readers could look forward to the opening.
Didn’t Skip get fired from the paper? Or the paper closed down. Or something. He went to the Big City to confront the owner and warned that, if he was fired, he wouldn’t work there anymore. Or something like that.
Yet apparently they ARE open, since Skip can just walk right into the theater from off the street. (Although they’ve been renovating the place since last fall, they still haven’t gotten around to changing the locks on the front door.)

The time-y wimey line for Crankshaft has always been sort of wibbly wobbly especially as it related to the Funky universe.

I’m looking forward to a year from now when Skip shows up at Ed’s house. “I hear your grill knocked an asteroid off course.”
