Alice: Now, Mom? Now? Mom: No, I haven't put the Halloween candy away yet. Alice: Now? CAN I OPEN MY EYES NOW? Mom: No! It's bad luck to see the candy before Halloween! Dad: You're a mean lady. Mom: It's Halloween! There should be more superstitions for Halloween! Alice: Mom! How about now? Mom: Okay! You can open your eyes now! Alice: Good, 'cause I already did.

bald 716 Or you could eat it all and then when Halloween comes, tell the kids, “Oh sorry these other kids come and took it all.”

Alice’s mother is brilliant.

This will be the first year in about 50 years that I will not be giving out candy (sigh). The amount of kids coming to the door has decreased steadly year after year. Last t year there were only 5 Halloweeners who came to my door in 3 hours. I used to love to look at the little ones and talk with them. Now everybody is going to parties and such. Guess it’s safer for the kids. Oh well HAPPY HALLOWEEN :-)

sugie63 I’m sorry to read that. Like you, I love Halloween, and love seeing all the costumes the kids wear, and passing out the candy. I’ve read that a lot of the so-called ‘danger’ was just urban legends. Going to a mall is just not the same.

I’m a candy corn junkie. I have to wait until the last minute to bring in any candy into the house. Biggest problem is that the day after Halloween, candy corn is in the half price basket and I’m a sucker for a bargain.

Gonna be a big Hallowe’en this year, coming on a Sunday. Stock up.

I want to know what the catch is if she sees the candy before Halloween.

I agree with Sugie ;-) Halloween was the favorite holliday of my extemely friendly cockatoo (who passed on) but most kids who come are driven around by parents (to “better” neighborhoods- tho’ mine?) and my new bird could care less about seeng people and I never see a creative costume (all store bought or just lazy makeup). I’ll have lights off to have a normal night.
