Grandma: I'd forgotten I had a dining room table in here. Mom: Did you see the lovely handprint turkey centerpiece Alice made in preschool? Alice: It's got a whole bag of cotton balls on it, and a whole roll of crepe paper and a whole roll jar of glitter! It's the first handprint turkey visible from the moon! Petey: Is it true that eating turkey can make you lose consciousness? Dad: Grandma's beet casserole! I'd forgotten how very, very, maroon it is.
And yet I’m probably more like Petey than I care to admit. I don’t mix foods unless a recipe calls for it and of course, it meets with my personal approval. But I will not take what has been pre-separated and mix them all together. If I want to do that, I’ll enlist in the army.
