My mom does. She used to live in a small town in Arizona where everyone know everybody. She said her mom (my grand-grand) couldn’t pick up the phone without hearing someone talking to somone else on the line! She and grandmom said they’re glad that dated techology is extinct!
not that i am that old, but i remember visiting my grand parents, you would pick up the receiver and say “millie, this is dennis, connect me with aunt june”….a minute later, i was speaking to her
We had a party line when I was a kid in the 60’s. It was a pain to have to wait for the neighbor to hang up before you could make a call. We had a VERY talky neighbor.

With my phone you have to turn a crank on the side and shout into a funnel and ask to be connected to whoever you want to talk to.
