Cos he would gladly pick up other kids but didn’t like anybody doing us favors.
And you’d better be in the back seat, ready, and you’d better be quiet.
Yeah, I know that drill.
Of course I’ve been tardy all my life….
Coincidence? I doubt it.
But I’m over-apologetic and otherwise very very very polite.
Kyle…. just gotta say…. maybe “again”
cos I’ve posted it on GoComics but maybe not here….
Colorists can’t get “lazy” … they’re racing the clock.
Daddy’s Home is done by two artists, though Tony supposedly only writes it.
There’s a chance they color it themselves, but yeah, probably not.
A syndicate colorist, though, gets one fairly low-paid hour to do a week of strips.
That’s not counting Sundays, which the cartoonists traditionally color themselves, or have their own staffs do..
But Monday through Saturday, six strips in 60 minutes.
If they rock out and spend 17 minutes on one, they can rob two minutes from another, and take 8 and 5….
or, as most of them do, put in some unpaid time, cos it’s a “job” they obviously do more for love than money.
It’s by no means a career, just an hour apiece a week for however many strips they color, which in most cases is one to three.
I know someone who has colored up to five or six a week and negotiated two hours a week for a very popular and complicated one on which he does a lot of detail….
but Universal changed everything a few years ago, when they started direct hiring instead of the agency they were using….
and I think he’s back to three strips….
including another detailed one he takes far longer to color than his paid time.
JShort…
My Dad was in the Air Force… a career officer….
He would probably BE the ride….
