Question? Not really. Went to my mom’s family reunion in GA when I was around 9. There were 625 attendees and the matriarch of the family was telling me who each was and their place on the family tree in relationship to me. “That’s Eileen. She’s your seventh cousin 12 times removed.”
removed refers to generational differences, and 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc. refers to how far back a common (grand) parent is but I have to figure it out every time I try to establish a relationship.

third cousin: someone with whom you share a set of great-great-grandparents

If you interact with them on a regular basis, just call them “Immediate Family”, if not, regardless of relation, they are distant relatives.

A 3rd cousin is what Jeff Foxworthy would consider as marriage material. (You might be a redneck if…)

I was once removed but I snuck back in later.

Life’s too short to worry about family labels.

I was so confused.

When my uncle Bob and aunt Jane had their first child Sally she was my first cousin.
When my aunt Karen and uncle Fred had their first child Joe he was my second cousin.
Jennifer is my tenth cousin.
What really bother’s me is when those cousins who were removed keep coming back no matter how many times they’re removed. ;-)
