I’m not a US citizen, but in our parish cemeteries, you see a few tombstones, all the same model, with a maple leaf on it.
When I was in Moncton, I lived near the Elmwood cemetery http://www.elmwoodcemetery.net/index.html. There is a spot there whith about a dozen tombstones from the royal canadian forces, all straight and pointing in the same direction,with a canadian flag in the middle. You see tombstones of veterans from WWI to the first Gulf War.
