A wacko plot - entirely dependent on a series of ”improbable” events all coming together at the right times.
Investing $2.0 million in the “hope” that -
1) Low Note would successfully switch the bomb rigged Stradivarious.
2) That the String Quartet WOULD be INVITED to Play at the reception. Particularly, knowing the Ambassador’s varient taste in music
3) That a disturbed Phil Harmonic would not “discover” the switched Violins earlier and take the Strad home.
4) The likelyhood of the Violin being taken OUT of the CASE to be passed through the Scanner - allowing Harmonic to “recognize” it.
5) That Harmonic would be on hand to “bully” it’s passage in, without benefit of scanning
6) That the Ambassador would be standing “close” to the violinist when the High C “trigger note” was hit. And not on the otherside of the Hall
7) That Phil the owner of the Violin accustomed to the “feel”, would not immediatly examine the instrument for the unusual change in weight, yet in an “instant” an untutered detective - Dick Tracy did
And DUMB, as another reader already pointed out costly, as for two mil $ Virgil could have got a “ROCKET” to take down the WHOLE Embassy building … and everyone in it - out.
A nonsensical convoluted PLOT of by Locher, who should be the one “TAKEN OUT” - from doing this strip !
Many times he made the threat
Never seeming to have regret
Several times were before the law
You would think it a fatal flaw
But so far Tracy has let it slide
Just going along for the ride
Granted this time he was to busy
To deal with a maestro in a tizzy
But at some point he must act
And acquaint pops with the fact
That making threats and attempting to kill
Will get you locked-up in the Bastille
A good detective could crack this case
And put Virgil Ohso in his place
But this is Tracy we’re talking about
His skills of deduction are in doubt
Now are the times that try our souls
Reading this story shot so full of holes
The plot is leaking like a sieve
I think I’m going to need a sedagive.

Previously, Virgil appeared to be watching a live simulcast of the embassy gala. Now he’s relying on flunkies to tell him about a news report?

Maestro, you’ve been ‘gonna kill’ your son for tha last month or so. Another foolish tale.

Let’s see if this works, I’ve been “locked out” the past couple of days. Probably an ad server was having a fit.
I wonder how long until father finds out son was only a flunky, and that the person who really needs killing for all of this is Virgil Ohso?

I’m so glad Tracy’s bow-tie survived the blast.

As Porky Pig sez…………… “That’s All Folks!” Hmmmm - Virgil kinda resembles Porky a little.

Virgil’s mouth looks ridiculous. Whoever drew panel 3 needs to spend a little more time on his artwork.

Gweedo Murray said: “I’m sure they cut the live feed when the “incident” occurred, but it looks like someone’s going to get killed, after all.”
Actually, they cut the live feed when Locher figured out he’d written himself into a corner… again…
