So Thick actually knows enough to follow a trail? Why is he now just standing there? Has his Small Hand Syndrome engulfed his feet as well?

And what happened to the cop in the patrol car? Did he leap out and pull a Clark Kent, revealing himself to be McDerrmott? Who else is in that clown car? Officer Timmy of Safety Education? Lovely Rita, Meter Maid? Norbert the Narc?

“Thick is in trouble!” Liz thought. “His life is in danger! This is a job for McDerrmott of the Fraud Unit!”

If we’re lucky the CIA officer is calling in an air strike from the Predator drone circling high over Nappingville. If we’re even luckier, it’s armed with a tactical nuclear warhead. “We’ve found a suspicious fugitive from justice! He’s grubby, wealthy, bearded, crazy and–TALL! It’s Osama bin Laden! Let him have it!”

Tomorrow, D-cubed flees to the nearest graveyard and over the next week takes shelter in front of his headstone, gets in a shootout and dies by Halloween.

Yeah, barticle35, what’s with the fraud unit? Have they been investigating D-cubed, too? Why didn’t anyone mention this to Chief of Police Horn Hair? And what’s his fraud? Did someone finally realize that there’s no such thing as a 3-D movie that doesn’t require special glasses? “It’s a scam! He dazzled everyone with PR and high ticket prices and crappy stories!”

Yep. The unit’s DEFINITELY a fraud, all right.

This is sad. Tracy’s gotten so bad that even the Keystone Cops would reject him… He’d never meet their standards.

“Bad writing, bad art … why do we continue to care?”

Sure, like YOU’VE never rubbernecked a car wreck. That’s the only draw for most people - and probably everyone in here - to see just how bad the ongoing continuity is. How could Locher possibly top himself after the pig-on-wheels and the play in the Science Museum? Well, now we know.

3D’s got one helluva head of hair on him. In 2 1/2 months, it’s now shoulder length when at the start of this caper, it was average businessman’s length, seen here: Missing Persons Board

It would seem as though Naperville has no homeless street people; just a bunch of arcane law enforcement squads in mufti. Who’s next? “Racket and Bunco”, “Safe and Loft” “T-Men” “G-Men” “The Riot Squad?” Something’s funny and it a’int the comic

What I say is, this many people gathered together for a common purpose is a mob. Lock up everyone with a badge for disorderly conduct.

    Just follow the money !

    And earlier :

    http://www.gocomics.com/dicktracy/2010/08/24

    “Where there’s money there’s MOTIVE !”

I guess that’s the only flimsy CLUE that you can cling to - but a MOTIVE for what dumb - Fosdick ? What’s the CRIME ? All your readers are still WAITING - ’ baited breath’, to hear ! ? Let’s hope it’s not all so vague, so fatuous and illusionary that only Simple Simon will give you one mark for trying !

Come on Dicky, pull up your Larry King ‘socks’ and ‘suspenders’; you know this story has been poorly thought out, no CREDIT to you, really just plain GARBAGE !

You have a few weeks left, try to GO OUT on a High Note, head held high, and not be remembered as the Author/ Artist who departed leaving half note, toilet paper -CRAP !

Just follow the wind and he won’t get far. Unless, of course, he stops running directly downwind. Or unless the wind shifts. Or unless he stumbles into someone else in the swarm of cops and miscellaneous accountants and bureaucrats who are playing “undercover agent” this month.

I guess McDermmot (Fraud Squad), is part of the ’SPECIAL FORCES’ Lizz sounded so buoyant about back in July http://www.gocomics.com/dicktracy/2010/07/26/

A brand new Squad . And we all wondered, whatever happenned to them, and their results (if any) ? We’ve heard nothing further. Like it never occured ?

Locher’s plot lines seem to be ‘choc-o-block’ full of near ‘meaninless’ sequences in stories. eg. Huge gaps in the body I.D process / Two weeks to hunt down and question the Wherli Group ALL ‘incocsiquential’ -and for no result.

They come like ships that pass in the night - and may never see each other again !

    Today’s Comics Curmudgeon:

It’s always dangerous to claim to understand anything happening in a given Dick Tracy strip, but it appears that Dick and the comely she-hobo are actually in cahoots, and the Fraud Unit officer in panel three looks to be similarly disguised as a bum. Were there ever any real hobos at all in this storyline? Their absence saddens me, though maybe the strip is trying to advocate against increased government funding for homeless services, since all so-called “homeless people” are just undercover law enforcement officers of one type or another.

Here we are at Day 85 of Realism Held Hostage.

We still do not have a definite crime and criminal. D-cubed is under investigation–but for what? Who if anyone did he defraud? Maybe he was set up by the same person who exposed the crooks at We’re-Lyin-terprises. Maybe he’s paranoid and took to the streets to escape the imaginary enemies he sees everywhere … who now look very real.

I can speculate about stock manipulation schemes, tax evasion, industrial espionage, bogus investment schemes ad nauseam, and tomorrow Locher can have Thick say “He’s no criminal! I have to take him into protective custody! He killed Butterfly McCorpse in self-defense! We need him as a material witness against the real criminal!”

Chet Gould would create an arc around an interesting criminal and an interesting crime. Locher has done the same thing, if you leave out the bits about “interesting,” “criminal” and “crime.”

I have to wonder if any of this makes sense to Dick Locher. It certainly looks like he has no clue what has gone on, what’s going on or what will go on.

Maybe McDermmott is one of the hobos (is that a beard or just a poorly-drawn chin?) and D-cubed is now caught between him and the Cabbie-Cop.

Why does Locher keep using these medium-close-up images? It looks like something you’d see in a Fifties B-grade sci-fi movie, where they didn’t have the time, budget or inspiration to do anything clever. Does he think he’s doing the storyboard for a low-budget movie?

Yesterday, D-cubed was wearing sunglasses. Is this even him being stopped today by the fraud unit or one of the other “homeless” persons. The officer in the squad car yesterday was in uniform. McDermott is not. A totally different scene or just the usual lack of continuity?

Tracy says “Just follow the money.” And McDerrmott of the Fraud Unit makes the arrest! Good work McDerrmott. Wait…I thought Tracy was suppose to be the hero??
