Holy censored! Davey is telling her, straight-up! Either she is “special” to him, or she is marked for immediate extinction. (I suspect the former, but one can’t be sure.)
Something about Davey’s silhouette in the second panel that makes me think of Chester Gould — must be the glasses. Intentional or not, it’s a nice touch.
Hang on, there’s more here than meets the eye (or less, depending on how you look at it). I’m betting Davy is a gamer, not a crook. He doesn’t look or act like a crook. His avatar is Mr. Crime, and one of the persons he is playing against is Panda. He knows only the avatar, like he only knows Doubleup’s avatar. He doesn’t know that the person behind the avatar is a real live crook. Yesterday he talked about Doubleup, but can you see Doubleup playing computer games? I can’t, but we have seen that Panda spends a lot of time on the computer. He plays as Panda, as Doubleup, and maybe a few others. I think he is gaming with Davy. Davy thinks it’s all virtual — Panda makes it all reality. Blaze was sent to Davy to find out how much he knows. As long as he doesn’t suspect he is doing anything other than gaming, he is safe. For now he is a very useful tool for Panda because he is a brilliant gamer.
Wow. There we go. I wasn’t expecting to find out his identity this way. I wonder what she’ll do with this information. I would guess that this shakes her confidence in the gang but time will tell. I’m guessing his mother has no idea about any of it.
We now know who found George Alpha’s safe among the rubble of his old clubhouse exactly one year ago today, and he was a comic book fan then, too! Very clever, Mike! A long set-up, but worth it!
Wow… very bold of him to tell her that. I agree with a lot of you here. He DEFINITELY has the hots for Blaze (no pun intended). Here’s hoping it’s not a double-bluff.
Davey is the brain. He found Mr.Crime’s old safe – full of information that would implicate a lot of important people – so he used it to bribe judges, cops, lawyers, etc. That’s also how he knew about Panda, and that he could be trusted to do his bidding. No gaming involved…
One year ago today we saw someone with a comic book bag and an “A” initialed belt buckle retrieve something from the rubble of the demolition of George Alpha’s clubhouse. We now know that person was Davey. The initialed belt buckle likely indicates that he is the nephew of George "A"lpha. He is continuing the Crime Syndicate with the information he retrieved.
Oy.Remember when Blaze was telling Panda that she had doubts about the whole operation? Now she must be ready to run far and run fast! But can she get away from the obviously infatuated Davey? And not end up feeding (a) a muerta vine or (b) a barracuda?(I hope so, she’s one of my favorite Team Tracy creations, along with Attitude Plenty, Blackjack and Abner Kadaver.)What next????
Personally, I do believe it is Davey. BUT if he is saying that just to “have his way” with Blaze, and his uncle finds out, he will make great plant food…
Rereading today’s strip I just caught another morsel where Davey says he doesn’t have a LIVING uncle. He’d be right, of course, if George Alpha was his uncle. That way, Alpha couldn’t be the current Mr. Crime because he was eliminated in 1952. Also explains the A belt buckle when Davey picked the records out of the rubble of the old clubhouse. God, I LOVE how this story is going!

Good morning all…
If Davey is Mr. Crime and he’s telling Blaze… (dare I say it), Davey must have the hots for Blaze.

Better be nice to him, Blaze, or you’ll be feeding Mr. Panda’s cute little carnivorous plants, next.

See, if there was a fourth panel today, Davey would be wiping a mouthful of dinner off his face from Blaze’s spittake. ;-D

I never get to be #1. Hard to do when you sign on after 5:00 Chicago time, anyway.
His uncle could have been Mr. Crime and now he’s “inherited” the title.

Back from Yellowstone and no bears or wolves got Mike. He did, however, brave the Dragon’s Mouth. He’ll probably be posting later today.

Though it seemed random that Davey found the safe (looked more like a filing cabinet to me), I wonder if he is actually George Alpha’s nephew.
