There has been talk of cloning on this page, but wasn’t Dr. Zygote proven to be a fraud when he appeared before?

Looks like Dr. Sail is in charge of this group. Wonder if he’s a crook like Zygote?

It’s partly a confirmation of what we already know about the Moon Maid story, and partly about new characters we may see in days ahead. Good information to know, especially for those who are prone to get upset by shifting story scenes. “Diet Smith asked that instead of prison Zy Ghote (character’s original name) be released into his custody.”Didn’t know this. Very interesting. Is Diet Smith lurking in the background?

Dr. Zygote was involved with the supposed cloning of Mumbles back in the day. It was an obvious hoax as Mumbles wasn’t dead as Tracy supposed..but what on the Moon has all this got to do with Moon Maid? Did she actually survive the car bomb that supposedly killed her? And is Zygote trying to sell everyone that he cloned her? Very interesting Team Tracy. Great job done by all. Keep up the excellant work.

I like the names, Stellaluna, Retik, Zygote. Very colorful and Gouldian.

Looks like one of my guesses may be right…..a CLONE….

…..cloning may allow a genetic match…..but it will also mean the real Moon Maid…..the one who loved and had experiences and memories with Junior….remains dead. Bummer….

Could be a clone, except Zygote is a fake, right? If he’s involved, it probably argues the other way, that she’s real.

Questions:1) Why will Dr. Sail’s coming keep Mysta from wandering?2) If Zygote (Zy Ghote?) is a fake, what about Dr. Sail? Possible he’s an innocent?

Disappointing, but still early in the story yet. I’m sticking around.

I really enjoyed Sail’s (Sale’s) work on The Long Halloween & Dark Victory.

And, of course, Superman: A Man For All Seasons.

Why do I have a feeling this will be bigger than last year’s Mr. Crime arc? I can’t WAIT!!

So according to Mike, everybody we’ve seen in the past few days will be involved in our Mysta stroy. GREAT! The way Team Tracy handled the Mr. Crime story, with so many involved, really made it pop. I am SO jazzed for the next couple of months!

Let her out for two hours. What could go wrong? I can’t wait to find out!

these guys are no doubt from the moon and hiding? Maybe?

We have plenty to ponder and I suspect we will be in suspense for some time as to the exact nature of Mysta. Wouldn’t a clone be about six years old, tops? Why would a clone need bandages on her face? Why would a clone destroy her tombstone, claiming she is not dead? How trustworthy is ZyGhote? Is rapid regeneration a possibility for Moon people? Healed and/or regenerated may be more likely than cloning. Let’s not be too hasty…

I’m thinking that “Dr. Tim Sail” is an anagram for something but can’t come up with anything. Anyone else care to try?

(1) Having followed Ray Toler’s link to the Dick Tracy Wiki, I found that Mumbles has been brought back from the dead at least three times. The first two times were drownings that allegedly didn’t take, but the third time, he died of old age (1994). Yet, there he was last week.(2) Why was Zy Ghote‘s name misspelled as Zygote (even though the drawing and depiction of him match the earlier referenced)?(3) Having brought criminals back from the dead for this strip, it ought not to be that big a stretch that, somehow, Mysta could be brought back from the dead. But, by now, that’s killing a dead horse to death…(4) On a lighter note, perhaps that is what Mumbles meant when he said, to the effect, if Flattop was so great, why is he so dead?(5) Seriously “bummed” will be the response of many, myself included, if this Mysta is a fake. But in these early stages of the story – and I’m realizing that, unlike a previous poster has said, there is a possibility that EJs and the Apollo may be linked after all – we may be dealing with a death trap designed specifically for Tracy and family!(6) The wild card will be Mysta herself – and already, Mike and Joe are playing this to the hilt!

Today, in Dick Tracy, we learn that Doctor Tim Sail (first name revealed for the first time) is associated with Doctor Zygote (a misspelling of the character’s original name, Zy Ghote). Doctor Sail is apparently supervising Mysta in her recovery, but from what?Considering that Mysta was blown to bits in 1978, strongly hinted is that she has been “cloned,” the running speculation in the Dick Tracy blog for months. But one poster noted that, if true, this “clone” would have to be six years old or less. Also, a clone may have the exact DNA of the original, but not the life’s experiences of the original. And we have also seen with the cloning of sheep and other animals, that cloned animals don’t even resemble the originals…

My guess is that MM is a clone but moon technology has a way to accelerate growth and restore memories. As Mysta’s memories come back, she is remembering helping Tracy solve crimes and wanting to act out.

The first time I saw Tracy in a magnetic air car I took the strip to my Dad to ask him how Tracy broke his leg. Being a Terry and the Pirates/Steve Canyon man, Dad was of little help.

…Also remember “Jonny Quest” from 1964 had similar hovercrafts. They could fly for 30 whole minutes!_____________________________

It was all part of the “Space Fever” that was sweeping the country at the time. Batman went through a similar Space Era about the same time.

Why would it be a problem now for Mysta to “go outside” when she’s already been doing it for months? She hasn’t been stopped before, so what is she impatient about?

Mike Curtis has posted on the Yahoo Group that the spelling of “Dr. Zygote’s” name in today’s strip is a typo. It should have been “Dr. Zy Ghote” as it was in the original Mumbles story.

But you must remember that Jonny Quest used many real or based upon real prototypes.__________________________I used to watch Jonny Quest as a kid so it didn’t matter to me if things were real or not. I wouldn’t have known anyway.

Does anyone know what exactly we are looking at in panel 1? What is the item in the lower right corner?

Dr. Sail’s beard looks like the Batman insignia.

I agree, calling her Mysta makes sense. I like the change.

I like reading all the comments. I learn so much! People here are mostly polite and that’s nice, too. Everyone is talking about Moon Maid, but when will we get to SEE her? 8) Okay, newbie girl signing off.

wasnt diet interested in zy ghote previously because he bneleived that he could bring back his dead son? at least from teh few panels i saw the other day thats what it seemed like to me. by the way, mind telling me how to put spaces between paragraphs when posting? i cant figure it out.. seriously. thanks!

Whatever people thinks of canon issues, I’m just glad Moon Maid is back. Yeah Baby, Yeah!

I’m going to violate my promise to myself not to post again until Monday. I have other things to do besides peruse Dick Tracy and Sunday is Sabbath, even though I work both Saturday and Sunday. Nevertheless, here goes.

I admit that I am caught up in the excitement regarding the possible/alleged return of the Moon Maid, now graciously named “Mysta” (perhaps the way we ought to refer to her from now on).

Perhaps I was too worried about a “plausible” storyline for her introduction.

Much of “science fiction” is a lot of fiction, with little or any science to go along with it. Moon Maid fits into that category very well.

Her previous “existence” was improbable, proven impossible once Apollo landed on the moon. Then, she was “voted off the island” and dispatched by the horrific explosion back in 1978 – not quite a year before the original Zy Ghote/Mumbles story.

Here we are, 35 years later, eagerly awaiting what most of us hope is her return – for good.

Never mind that, according to another canon, general human resurrection has not yet begun.

Mike and Joe have begun with a storyline that includes one of the shadiest characters from the post-Gould era, Zy Ghote, who has already committed fraud when it comes to human cloning. The subject of his previous alleged cloning is one of those who met at EJs when Stilleta put out her “contract” on Tracy.

Again, never mind that his previous deaths and reappearances have problems with Dick Tracy “canon.”Paralysis by analysis: Perhaps all of us have put a little too much into this whole subject.

One thing for sure: Mysta is not a neutral character – we either love her or hate her. But, in the end, we are not the ones deciding whether she will “return.”

All we will do is “pass judgment” on the story, whether we were “entertained” or not.

How does today’s comic tie in to Mumbles, B.B Eyes and Stilletta wanting to kill Tracy?

I seem to recall that once Mumbles claimed to be a clone.
