A new tale begins! Will we see the space coupe and it’s occupants one more time? They are on a package trip, “Around the Solar System and Beyond… in Eight Days!”.
I figured it was Lee right from the first panel. Lee first appeared in 1980. She attended police academy with Lizz, I think, but I think Lizz was there before that. Hmm.
Know we know where Lee Ebony has been for the last several weeks. And the MCU is off on “regular” police business, leaving all unfinished “moon business” as loose ends.
I don’t believe the Space Coupe is gone for good. It’s too good fodder for another good story in the future. The same for Mysta Chimera. And the same for the missing Moon People. They’ll all be back, just wait and see.
Lee’s got a heckuva job! Gettin’ paid by the toot people and from the city, as well! I hope Tracy lets her keep some evidence as a bonus for doing such a good job!
Venus told Melies that the Apparatus would be out of business soon, or words to that effect. Today’s strip may be an indication of that prediction starting to come true.
The original Mr. Crime along with Big Boy (the man indirectly responsible for Moon Maid’s demise) are shown in the Crimestopper’s textbook. Breaking up a bad meth lab today?
Now that the Moon Maid story appears to be wrapped up, I can ask this question without risking a “spoiler”. . .At the following link, there is a very nice interview with Mike Curtis:http://popcultureaddict.com/comic-books/moonmaid/In the interview, Mike showed how he actually sketches out his ideas for the panels. There are examples of two strips from the Moon Maid story, and I was really looking forward to seeing them, but they never happened. They show Tracy and Sam riding in a car together, Tracy getting a call on his wrist device that there has been a “Moon Maid” sighting, and Tracy and Sam confronting Moon Maid as she appears to be robbing a deli. Actually, she has just told the counter man to put the day’s money in a bag, because someone else is about to rob the place, and she wishes to protect him. When Tracy confronts her, she says “You can’t arrest me, I’m married to your son” or words to that effect. My question is: What happened to that scene? I guess it ended up on the cutting room floor, so to speak, but I wish they had left it in. It looked really good, and had Tracy and Sam in action, doing their thing. I don’t know if Mike reads these comments anymore. (He did at one time) Some of you have access to him at the Yahoo site, maybe you can ask him?
I notice there are a whole lot fewer comments today. I don’t mean this as a snipe or criticism, but I think it demonstrates that like it or not, nothing stirs up interest and excitement in this strip more than space fantasy, especially when it has to do with Moon Maid.
What I really like doing is listening to 2/3’s of a song, then 2/3’s of another, then 2/3’s of a third, then going back and listening to the last 3rd of the first one, then starting to listen to a 4th one, then finishing up hearing the 2nd one. I learned it here! Seriously, to spend all this time building up a story and then deflate it to this extent……well, this leaves Diet Smith as a murderer, and Dick Tracy as an accomplice, sorry. You don’t just “blow away” into the solar system, yet neither is making any attempt to locate the coupe, which wouldn’t be that far away if it simply blew away. So they know it was being piloted to some degree anyway, and likely at least one of those involved, since Dr.Ghote’s disappearance doesn’t seem to be causing any problems for them either. Sorry, I have a real with anyone, even law enforcement, acting as sole judge, juror, and then passing sentence…which is what was done here. Ok, I guess we’re back to the Stiletta story, the Abner story, the Lee story, and whatever else pops up….
I did, from the beginning, welcome gouldstandard to this forum. I have to admit that after reviewing several comments, his reaction of, “Am I the only one having a problem with this?” kinda makes me think that he is the only one.Gweedo, good plan…I’m also putting aside my plans for any swift departure from this mortal coil. (With thanks to the immortal Vitamin Flintheart for that line!)

I wonder what the Moon People and Mysta Chimera are doing right now

Judging by the hair and the outfit, has she been undercover since the 70s? Also it looks like Lizz is back.

Warrant in one hand, gun in the other. Pure, classic Tracy. Great work team Tracy! (And yes, welcome back Lee.)

Oh, my! Why are they calling Mysta “Lee?” It’ll take Mysta forever to get that dark makeup up off!

Well! Nice seeing Ms. Ebony back! Is the entire team finally back? My knowledge of the 70s and 80s is very spotty.
