I was hoping to give all of you a Pig on Wheels for Christmas. Unfortunately, whoever took my order got it mixed up.Oh well… Merry Christmas to everyone.
gouldstandard said, “…….just happens to have something like that with him…..gimme a break, lol.”Nothing strange about it at all. Officers of the law have carried batons for more than a century. A baton that telescopes expands the reach and effectiveness of the weapon without making it more difficult to carry.
It’s like when Batman in the 1960’s tv show “just happened” to have the right gadget in his utility belt to counteract whatever the bad guy was doing to him.
In Wisconsin, they make us call them batons, as "night stick " is threatening sounding. I carry a 21" ASP collapsible baton on my duty belt. Tracy’s isn’t an ASP, as ASPs are friction fit, and would just collapse when the wall pressed in.
Establishing that baton prior to the events of 12/24 would’ve made it a more credible “solution”. But yeah, I concur. Kinda has the 60’s Batman deus ex machina quicker-pick-eruppy going for it.
Merry Christmas, Team Tracy! I only nitpick because I care! It is amazing that this strip continues 80+ years down-the-line. That’s a daily present for me ;)
I remember Tracy was in a situation like this once before, back in the 60’s I think it was. But then there were no spikes, just the walls closing in on him.
Dick Tracy is a seasoned police officer and it is one of his jobs to stay alive. … and did I mention That I am on DT’s side.in fact I am a fan. Just looking for one more reason to NOT read the troll trash. long live DT !
Well, if it works, swell. But I don’t recall ever seeing Tracy use/carry a baton before. So, yeah, it does sorta seem a deus ex machina….Chicago PD expandable baton directive from Superintendent McCarthy.Expandable batons (photos & descriptions).
I’m pleased to see that DT is well equipped now. He could have used that when he was locked in the tiger cage and up against Johnny Nothing/The Blank at the Science Museum!
John Russell, go put your head back up your posterior so your ears stay warm! I am NOT this “Mike” and your remark on my topic-related comment was entirely uncalled for. And in this case YOU’RE the troll. dude!
Even if installed perfectly straight (does not looks like it is) and built withan impossibly strong material , this flimsy stick would buckle so easily

Tracy,in real life, nothing is as strong as the ads say it is. (The adverb is interchangeable according to the product)

In Baltimore City they are made of wood and called an Espantoon. Espantoons are strictly a Baltimore City thing.
