That guy in the last panel, does he have a mustache or is he sucking on a candy cane?

Took this long to hit me, but is this a relative of Joe Staton’s “Nova” Kane? I’d love it! (Who wouldn’t!)

Now, don’t get upset about an E-Man crossover, you nervous nellies out there (but for all us Staton fans, wouldn’t it be great?)

It’s definitely a gal; but it is either a candy cane in her mouth or a mustache, I can’t tell!

I think this is a new character in Panel 3, but I did a search just in case and found “Kandace (Kandy) Kane, Private Eye: Case Files: To Catch a Clown” on Amazon

@cpalmeresqI think crossovers should not be used much. Don’t wanna wear out the novelty !-—————————-I agree. Crossovers are fine but it’s a device that can become a crutch.

Morning, Tracyville! Is there such a character as Kandy Kane, or are y’all just making this up?

Sam seems wonderfully relaxed today. I guess when the cat (Tracy) is away, the mice (Catchem) will play. But, for sure, somehow trouble is a-brewing with “Kandy” Kane (of Kane Studios) in panel 3, whether or not she turns out to be the villain of the piece….

The last panel has two women. While I’ve known women with mustaches, never one who wore a handlebar, so I’m pretty sure that’s a candy cane.

Regarding Sam’s relaxed pose today – it is a Dick Tracy tradition to (once in a while) show either Tracy or Sam or both kicked back with their feet up on the desks between cases. Sometimes they even start to plan a vacation together with their wives, and then the next big case breaks and they are back on the job!

With a name like “Kane Studios”, that must be a Candy Cane in her mouth, I think. But I wondered for a brief moment if there was a reference to “Citizen Kane” too – wasn’t that about a media mogul type?

Relax, everyone – this is NOT a cross-over. It is only a test.Had it been an actual cross-over, there would have been a red-hired character (Annie, Hot-Shot Charlie, or Hank O’Hair) somewhere in the strip.

The casual behavior of everyone in the MCU makes me wonder about all those open cases we’d been discussing – the Nitrates, Abner’s cadaver, the Blackhearts, etc.You know, the ones Warbuck’s case pulled them off of?

Wasn’t there a 70’s or early 80’s female Tracy character with a handlebar mustache?

The shadowy character in the last panel is definitely a female. She has long fingernails and eyelashes, and what looks to be long hair tied back. The candy cane probably is tied to whatever her name is. Her surname is most likely Kane, and I will bet she is the owner of Kane Studios. There have been a lot of stories with a movie theme: Abner Kadaver and the Lon Chaney film… the Nitrates living in a theatre… the Vista Bill franchise with Vitamin F and Coffee Grounds. If this story arc is supposed to run to the end of the year it could coincide with the return of Silver and Sprocket (rumoured to occur in early 2015.)

I wonder what “assignment” Tracy is on, and will it have a bearing on this business with Flintheart and Gruesome?

You’re thinking of Bob Kane.Gil Kane was one of (in my not very humble opinion) best comics artists in the 60’s and 70’s. He was the regular artist for both Green Lantern and the Atom at DC, and drew the Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man, Captain America, etc. for Marvel.GIl is also credited as creating the first graphic novel, Blackmark, in 1971. (Yeah, I’m correcting myself here.)
