See, Tracy hasn’t forgotten about the long list of criminals that are still on the loose. He’ll get them eventually. Meanwhile, something new is developing at the Patterson Playhouse, and that will come first.

Murphy. (Audie Murphy, for those of you who don’t get the reference)..I understand that Sitting Bull is a sympathetic figure. Not altogether undeservedly. But, in this case, he was inciting violence, attempting escape when he knew the possible consequences, and urging his followers to attack the police officers who had him in custody..What Red Tomahawk did in those circumstances doesn’t match any of Calley’s actions in any respect.

One last point. For good or ill, the death of Sitting Bull marked the end of the Indian Wars. A more or less persistent state of warfare between the Plains Indians and non-Indian settlers, a state that endured from before the Civil War until 1890, really did neither side any good.

Actually, Sitting Bull was killed on Dec 15th, Wounded Knee took place on Dec 29th. That event marked the end of the Indian Wars.Oh, and Sitting Bulls son was found in the house hiding under a mattress. He was dragged out and shot to death by two of the police officers. He was unarmed.

Now, back to Dick Tracy. Today’s strip is very benign, probably for a good reason. I wonder where all this is going to go in the next few days.

Hey, DT fans remember a Dick Tracy 45 record from the 60’s? I had it, but lost it over the years. It was a song.

You can’t sum up 350 years of Native American history in one incident.The incident in which Sitting Bull was shot sounds a lot like a riot.That the police were themselves Lakota probably resulted in fewer casualties than if it were white vs. red.

*It is no less bad if your own people now enforce the same laws, *-———-The fact is that a cop – anywhere, any color – who can relate to the people he polices will give better service than an outsider.Red Tomahawk and his fellow officers weren’t the bad guys here.If anything, they were able to show more compassion and care than white military police who didn’t speak the language or understand the customs, and would be quicker to be afraid and overreact. (We’ve seen that, too.)Remember, the whole incident began because whites were frightened by the Ghost Dancers.

Wow, what a great story! You’ve got to write all that down.It’s the little things like the way your dad and uncle were taught lacrosse that shape history on a bigger scale.-—As far as what we’ve learned from it…Probably not much.People are the same now that they were a thousand years ago, and a thousand years before that.We can communicate better than ever, but people still don’t want to listen to things that challenge their ideas.

Sorry to interrupt the discussion, but I’d like to comment on a comic strip called “Dick Tracy”; some of you may already be familiar with it……anyways, I found it very interesting Sam only mentioned Rikki being alive; I mean, unless they recovered a body why wouldn’t they think Abner escaped again as well? There wasn’t THAT much cement that they wouldn’t comb through it to find him afterwards, so, when you add in the mask, there is a big possibility she is indeed going to try to pose as him, I’d say……

I don’t think a “Crimestopper’s” (or in this case a “Hall of Fame”) ever got this much discussion before.

Don’t forget about people from alternate universes, Sam.
