Interesting that traffic signs that warn drivers to slow down because of a playground use the symbol of a teeter-totter [see upper right corner of P2] even though the playground actually has no such thing. [could be dangerous!]
Riffin’ Without A Script continues in spite of undesired audience participation
1-SONNY: HA! This is great! Getting paid to beat up actor wimps – on stage no less. I think this acting thing might be my road to riches. GUY IN AUDIENCE: HIT ‘EM AGAIN!
2-SONNY: Acting is paying off already! Now beat it ya big sissy. This stage ain’t big enough for the two of us.
BLOND KID: I QUIT!
STAGE MOM: OH NO YOU DON’T! GET BACK OUT THERE AND MAKE ME FAMOUS!!!
Nothing about the story so far connotes the 30’s or 40’s when this “back Story” had to have occurred. The Art is very good, but not anywhere near the styles of the period.
Well, the boy’s future isn’t off to a promising start,For those who call this “the easy way out”,the strip has a history of these “coincidences”.Flattop Jr.(1956) was a ringer for his old man.Molene had “the family nose”.And who remembers Burpie Upp and Aunt Soso?Shaky being married 4 times was mentioned only in passing in the original Breathless Mahoney story(1945).And while we’ve seen plenty on the Mahoney side of the family,we still don’t know squat about the first three wives;all of whom may have had quintuplets for all we know.
Can somebody confirm or deny an Academy Awards story that keeps popping up?Spencer Tracy won back-to-back “Best Actor” awards in 1937-38 for CAPTAINS COURAGEOUS and BOY’S TOWN.The Academy was supposed to have engraved one of his awards “DICK TRACY” by mistake. And he was so furious he never attended the Oscars again as long as he lived. And that was another 30 years and multiple nominations to go!

I’m glad he wasn’t at my school. It looks like an unpleasant experience for the others.

Yesterday, I said “reboot”; perhaps the better word is “recycled.”
I liked that comment late yesterday (Ray Tyler?) that said it looks like another prolific family of villains.
Now that we’ve flatlined on Flattops.

If the bully is alone, he doesn’t stand a chance against anyone.

The could have structured this strip better. Make the first panel seem like Little Shakey is getting bullied, then reveal the truth.

They say sociopathy begins in childhood. Usually, the first sign is inflicting harm on animals before moving on to humans.

“Little Shaky” is a mean bully. Grown-up Shaky is most likely also a mean bully, but with deadly weapons available to him….
