One glance should be proof enough.

found it. Clue is in how she wrote the clue. She said find it a “key”. Look at the sign about the key hook, you see the word “key”. you’re not looking for an object, you’re looking for a word.

I dunno…… a hooked sign that says “key” or “keys” is in the strip almost every other day. I don’t think on one particular day the word itself would be the Find-It. Not. mind you, that I HAVE found the actual key — maybe that’s the joke, that it opens every room, but it’s missing from the board.Maybe it’s in the manager’s pocket. He also wants all the cars left unlocked…. and the pink sign says something about luggage. Light fingers?Speaking of signs…. had to magnify to see that all the “amenities” have “NO” in front. And Pull-Up Motel made me laugh. A “pull-up” is what nursing homes call an adult diaper.I believe from some earlier references that Burl, Joy and Verl are in their early to mid 50’s — not quite senior. Bet they can’t wait.

BTW I answered about Julie and blogs and stuff kinda late on yesterday’s strip, if you’re interested.

If Ma is going to spend money on Burl, she ain’t gonna spend a brass farthing more than she has to. No love lost between them. And this has to be the cheapest motel in the western hemisphere. They’ve even jobbed out the parking lot to “Midnight Auto Supply!”

Maybe the ‘key’ is Yale, written on the sleeve. Yale is a brand of keys right?

Burl appears to have met his match. That hotel is kinda like the place in Roger Miller’s old song “King of the Road”, who needs a AARP card when “two hours of pushin broom buys a 8 by twelve 2-bit room…”

Burl would be interested in “obtaining” a fake AARP card from the internet (the same place college kids get their fakers.)

An AARP card does not insure you’re a senior- they try to make you a “member” as soon as you reach 50. I want nothing to do with them or their so-called benefits; just another bunch of nasty activists who pretend to represent me!

oh, good. I’m not alone. There is no actual key , in the sense of an metal object that opens locks anywhere to be seen in the panel, little tricks like the word ‘key’ or ‘yale’ notwithstanding

If the AARP card was “valid” before it expired, it would be (IMHO) still be valid to ensure senior status after it expired. :) So, is the boorish behavior a) that “Ma” hasn’t renewed her AARP status and still wants the discount or b) that the motel manager is sleezy and trying to avoid giving a discount at any cost?

Is it my imagination or are Joy’s pants split?? I see a bit of white on her backside that would suggest it.
