My old (really cheap) boss once invited a client out to lunch, picked a rather pricey place nearby, and invited me and a co-worker along. When the check came, it just sat there—forever! The workers had cleaned the whole restaurant and set every table (but ours) for dinner. My co-worker and I even discussed splitting it when we had excused ourselves for the second time to hit the can (lots of coffee). The client finally picked it up (at about 4pm; I think he wanted to avoid the rush-hour drive home).
