Leaky and Susan and Dazz are my friends, and I enjoy greeting them. I’ve met others here and other places around the boards that I enjoy greeting. X-tech, Mikie, Finale, Grog, Dave, and many more. It’s a friendly thing to do. The Dinette Set should be a fun and lighthearted place to be. Life is too short to be sour and miffed all the time. :-)
Consider the blessing we have of only seeing the lyrics; w didn’t have to hear the singing? Can you imagine the off-key screeching? I’m sure the neighbors are calling the cops coz they think somebody’s being murdered.Good morning to all my friends both new and old. I hope that you are all well and safe. The storms raging through the midwest and midatlantic areas are doozies! And the heat! Wow. But not to worry, there’s no such thing as global warming.
Good morning, all you friendly Crustwoodians…. and happy 4th…. but first, happy 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
Yes, I like it that Crustwood is a friendly place, and I enjoy saying good morning to everybody, including YOU (whoever is reading this…
…. I don’t usually do it by name any more, unless the people are already here, only cos I might accidentally, leave out somebody who might arrive later….but EVERYBODY who stops by is included in my greeting….except anybody who doesn’t WANT to be…which is not my problem.
And anybody like that would really not enjoy some of the other forums I’ve seen here, where every person starts off by saying hello to a long list of other posters, by name.
Then they talk about what they’re all having for breakfast.
There’s one where a complicated fantasy life is being “lived” by the participants, somewhat in conjunction with the strip, but only tangentially. And yet another forum where people discuss music and films, having nothing to do with the comic over their “heads”…. and one person there actually received a letter from GoComics saying, basically, “what a great idea.”They like it when people gather on their site, cos the visitors have to either see ads or buy memberships…. just like TV networks want more people to watch their shows.
Nobody cares whether the viewers are actually discussing Desperate Housewives or their own lives…. as long as they’re sitting in front of the show and seeing the ads, nobody from the network knocks on the door and says “You can only talk about tonight’s plot!”
And yes… one of the only downsides, if you can call it that, to making friends over the internet …. and YES, to the naysayers, they ARE friends… and many more are acquaintances… is that now I know people in so many places threatened by storms, heat, fire and financial disaster.
I can no longer painlessly shove the news into a far corner of my mind, cos now I can put a face, or at least a name, into the stories.
Happy forth to all, and I will say it again Wednesday!
Thanks for the kind words Marg, you are sweet as well as all my other Crusty friends. After I read the comic, I always go in the forum to see what you guys are up to. There are only a couple of others that I regularly go in and read. Some I only go into it I thought there may be something interesting on that day’s comic. Maybe if it is controversial or something. But I try to come here every day.
Mainly, because I can get an extra laugh, or sometimes some words of wisdom, or just find out how everyone in town is doing. I also have had my tutors on here. And when I lost my job last month, some kind encouraging words. Still looking for a job, but you guys have helped me get through it. The first week was my hardest, I was really down. Thanks for picking me back up.
And today, I have internet so I was able to stop by in the morning!
Everybody have a good Sunday. I am going to go downstairs now and grab my coffee.
You got it all wrong…… us Old folks know and respect the words of the song….. it is the younger generation that do not have the a clue or respect of our great heritage, all they want is gimme gimme gimme.
It looks like they may be deaf or the batteries in the radio died. I think they’re mostly deaf, since they don’t seem to be able to hear the singer on the radio sing the real words as badly as the Pennys do with the made up ones. lol
This sound a lot like the singers who for some strange reason are asked to sing the National Anthem before a sports event. Totally butchered and unrecognizable!!! By the way, I enjoy the banter from you commenters who have developed a relationship over the years. If someone complained this morning, it was deleted before I got here.
Leaky and GymShoe, don’t make me get up and come in there! I’m watching the (eternal) re-runs of NCIS and don’t want to miss a single shot of Agent David’s butt.
I see there was some intruder who is annoyed by happy atmosphere here.I have been rather busy the last few months with an online chat where we often had thousands and it ran more than all the daylight hours (from Ithica NY). Chat went so fast and continuous I often did a ctl-A & ctl-C just so not to miss things. Now that the cam is mostly on an empty nest (we knew was coming- I quickly put together a FB group and have already approved 251 people after verifying sincere bird interest (closed group to avoid negative persons) The moderators of the chat had to hammer many such and I don’t want to moderate full time.I have many new friends from that group and may even meet some of them as some live in same state. They were all disappointed that we could not continue chat there so now we are using both FB and Yahoo- I find Y groups hard to follow even daily summeries that I have on most.
@Leaky, I heard a quote on TV recently that one should never argue with a stupid person because (same). And I too an very happy we had no sound on this (I don’t want to imagine). ;-D

Yes, free country, which is the reason I usually mute it when performed on TV. I’m more of a “Born In The USA” kind of guy.
