They don’t use the TV in the pantry? That’s where we particularly like to watch PBS; US/DS, Midwife and Downton Abbey. It’s the best place.I hate to ask this, but does “Crustwood Ladies’ Charity Bank” across Joy’s chest imply that she might be giving certain, er, favours away? Stammer, blush.

Right… throw away the old clothes…I mean, the Salvation Army wouldn’t want them, cos they’re way too small.Who could possibly wear clothes that size? You’s have to practically be a model to wear a 22, and we don’t have models in Crustwood.

And if they give them the TV…well, they’ll just start calling, looking for more good stuff.

Mikie… I doubt it… but even if she were…isn’t that something you’d rather not have in your head?I mean, brain bleach is great stuff, and I don’t want to discourage sales….but an ounce of prevention… well, you know….

The PENNYs are not good at connecting the dots….. Everything on the board could go to the Salvation Army while the pie tin could be recycled. No “Find-It” today… so it seems this might be a recycled panel.!

had a neighbor once with one of those 20-foot long phone cords. i asked her why so long a cord, thinking that a cordless would be what she really needed…“because the cords get all kinked up and won’t stretch”. huh??? yes, folks, they’re really Out There!

But did you notice that they were going to donate $ to the “Save our Strip Mall Foundation”?

Is it the T.V. or the Pantry that they “never use”?

No, just more places for people to engage in commerce. Just more places to hire employees. Just more places to fund your fire department. Etc.

Almost every business you are disparaging is someone’s dream. If you don’t care to be sullied by someone’s efforts to provide for themselves then you don’t have to patronize them. Problem?

The days when most people had only one phone in the house were about 30 years before cordless ones..

A wall phone was usually in the kitchen… so the first long curly cords were considered a wonderful innovation.

They let you bring the handset out to grandma on the couch. Wow!

A few years before THAT, you could get 25 foot, and later 50 foot, straight cords for the base of regular phones, so you could carry the whole heavy thing to a different chair.

Either type cost a couple of dollars a month to RENT from the phone company, on top of phone rental. 50 foot ones cost more… I think I paid $3 a month for mine. It wowed my friends.

The Penny’s be shown with a big cordless phone now or then, or even cell phones…. but Julie has said they’re mostly stuck in the 90’s…. so the backgrounds are from a time when cords like they have were very common.

I had a neighbor, as recently as the early 90’s, who still paid $1.50 a month for phone rental cos she thought that if she bought her own, her number would have to be changed!

I agree! I know that my comments sometimes annoy even my family- all OK! and I do not filter my opinions as much as some others ;-) There is so much of my stuff that I could easily dispose of and hope that some of my kids will learn enough of Ebay etc to do a good job after my passing. I still have this Halloween dress but mask was eaten by moths (I have many feathers to make a new mask – I would like to do in leather).

I’m glad that neighbors enjoyed all my cupcakes. We had a lot more kids doing Trick or Treat this year than recent ones and even the teens were creative in costumes more than past few years. One late night gal had lovely henna work with gems on her face. I wore my black velvet with a good assortment of my best bird pins (and one of my initials).
