Actually, different sea salts and some specialty mined salts do have different flavours, but let’s face it, Joy, NaCl is NaCl is NaCl. Just make sure it’s food grade.
SimpsonFan…. Kosher salt isn’t really a religious designation. It means a kind of pure salt, with much larger, flatter grains, and usually no additives like iodine.
It’s supposedly a better size and shape for clinging to meats to draw out the blood, which is part of the process to make them Kosher.
But very few people do that…and cooks like Martha Stewart and Julia Child recommend Kosher salt for some kinds of cooking because of the purity.
Do you think you have to be Jewish to buy bagels, or Kosher salami?
Phew…. Susan… I am feeling a bit out of sorts on my first day without brain bleach, but fortunately today’s panel is not too intensive in the need for that helpful elixer. I am not sure how shaky my resolve may be though when eventually the Pennys do something especially crass or grotesque.
I still don’t have any Potassium salt (doctor prefers that I switch) but the little dish on the stove top has Kosher salt because I measure with my fingers. The all purpose shaker next to it has my mix of Tumeric, Ginger and Cayenne. Tastes great on egg white (or the egg over easy I preferred before this diet) and my spice is really good to spice up the V8. ( I tried the spicy low sodium one but this is much tastier- theirs is hot but less flavor).

They probably eat a LOT of salt…. Radish is right, though… why haven’t they dissolved?

Cereal Plops? Canadian food has some of the highest salt content in the world. There is no need to add any more.

I don’t understand why the Pennys would need to purchase salt. Surely they have a full supply of salt packets purloined from various restaurants.

The lack of additives in kosher salt make for clearer pickling brine.
