A point of personal privilege, if you guys please.I must brag on my senior son-in-law. He saved a two year old girl from drowning today. He was at a Fourth Party and was in the shallow end of a swimming pool when he noticed a small child swimming close by. He initially thought that this was one of those “baby swimmers” and was impressed with her skill. After several seconds he realized that the child wasn’t swimming and scooped her up and out. Mouth-to-mouth was applied and EMS called. She was transported to Tx Children’s Hosp and is OK. Parents were overwhelmed.I am very proud of Don. He saw, he understood, he took action. He saved a human life.He had recently read an article (I believe in the NYT) about how drowning people actually appear and recognized what was going on.Bravo! Besides, he’s stayed married to my daughter for 26 years, no mean feat, that!
Some lucky people have parents who are wise, intelligent, and thoughtful.
Alas, many of us are shocked, the day we discover that a person we once thought infallible….. Mom or Dad, or even a teacher … can give incredibly bad advice.
I was only 10 when my father insisted on teaching me some math skills …. but he had it all completely backwards….
I hope parental respect doesn’t still keep Patty from sifting very carefully through whatever her parents tell her.In fact, I’d say they live in Bizarro World…. whatever they advise her to do, she should just do the opposite.
Well Joy can loan Patty her OBWGF for the interview. Burl is spot on about the eye contact thing, if she doesn’t want the job. I would never take their advice, or eat their food. Penny I think is smarter than her parents anyway.
She gets a job evaluation on Sunday? I guess some offices could be open then. I worked in a call center that was, so maybe it’s not too far-fetched after all. Business doesn’t quit because it’s a weekend. If I was Patty, I would ignore their well-meant but outdated advice. She could get busted for harassment.
And Mikie, yes! Good to be proud of them! It is mostly my 3 sons I’m always proud of, but daughter’s 3rd husband seems much better than the others so I hope they stay together (married 2012 and she’s about to be 49 this month; she’s my baby).

And the part about appearing furtive and deceitful.
Just think, Leaky is down of the coast (amid nearly 19 inches of rain!) being treatedlike a king. Not a care in the world, not thinking of us at all.
