They might be more broken up if they could just remember who this dear friend was.

What, you mean they’re not going to the Big Feed at the house after the funeral? Oh, my goodness, they must really be broken up over this death to forget the free food!

I’m surprised the Pennys’ seat make is flying to his destination rather than motoring in a nice diamond white Elegantè or a silver gray Majestique.

I wouldn’t mind sitting next to Burl and Joy on a non stop. Especially not on a plane with a no aisle – three across configuration. Lots o’ room. They’d probably be entertaining in that small dose. After all, many come here to see them 7/52.

I’m with Purple. How could they forget the Big Feed? Flying Crustwood (Chicago) to Snata Ana (LA)? How’d they figure out to do this for free? Maybe they finagled a bereavement fare, but that’s still not free.

Maybe they booked a package deal to Disneyland, one that included airfare….

For Anaheim OR Santa Ana, you fly into John Wayne Airport… How convenient that their “friend” lived so close to a major attraction….No, the tickets weren’t free, but they were a great excuse to1)Take a vacation and leave Ma home…(oh Ma… you didn’t really know Norman…. I mean Neal…. it’s Neal, right Burl? OH…. Paul? Really?)and 2) Borrow the money from her anyway….

And they WILL stay for the food….

Their bus to Disneyland leaves at 1:10….Almost an hour to enjoy the lunch buffet and bid a hasty adieu.

Maybe there will be a long winded friend to get up and tell the deceased’s whole life story for about 3 hrs. Then they miss the feeding, and get to Disney about 5. The plane home leaves at 9. Ma paid for it to get rid of Burl for the day. Well worth it wasn’t it?

They are spending the night with the family after they get back from Disney to save on motel costs.

That is rude, do they think that with all the things going on leading up to the death of a loved one that someone prepared the house for guests. Now we see there really are folks like the Penny’s out there, probably in every family.

I only remember sitting once with someone like that (and it WAS back before the seats were further diminished).I was given a seat next to an EXTREMELY obese man who had to have an extension added to his seat belt AND the stewardess just assumed that I’d not mind if the armrest was left folded so he could OOZE into part of my seat.

I was still young enough then to tolerate that, but if it happened now I’d tell them to put him where he could buy an extra seat.

I think I heard that some foreign airlines is offering 1/2 seats to accommodate such.

After my wife’s grandfather’s funeral, the family gathered at grandmother’s house. Someone swiped the money given to granny for food, and another swell relative lifted the battery in grandpaw’s car, cause, well he won’t need it anymore. Appalachian Tradition, I guess.

When I visit my daughter. I fly on a pass, Hubby is a pilot. Not only do I have to go thru additional bag searches, but I always get the middle seat, Can’t tell you how many men stretch out and hog the armrests! And I too wondered at the width of the seats the Pennys were sittting in. They would certainly overflow don’t you think?

Oh, and since the admission to Disneyland is $85, who is paying for this mini vacation?

@ 2Old, I’m sure they “borrowed” the money for trip and admissions from Ma (with no intention of ever paying it) we all know some folks like that (who will continue as long as they are facilitated).
