Today must be Julie’s happy-birthday-to-us day. We don’t get this evil sweet anticipation of the future distress of our un-favorite Crustwoodians. Glad they buy their Scoot paper in bulk. Bwa-ha-ha-ha
Icky, poo-poo, ca-ca, BARFAGE! If I want apple cider vinegar smell, I’ll open a jug of the stuff that’s been made in a food-safe environment, thank you very much!
The rotten ones are free….. All you want to take home, saves labor for the orchard owners.. But what will the piggies eat? I wonder what they are going to use them for. Next week they’ll hit the plumbs and try to pick prunes…
BURL….. Lift an apple and twist it slightly; those that are ready should separate easily for the branch and the stems should remain attached to the fruit. Apples which are to be eaten relatively soon should be allowed to ripen to the tree. Those to be stored should be picked a week or so before the ripe stage..Apples on the ground go to make cider such as in Robert Frost’s poem After Apple Picking: .For all That struck the earth, No matter if not bruised or spiked with stubble, Went surely to the cider-apple heap As of no worth.
Wow, such a deal; all the flies, maggots and fruit wasps they could bring home. I’m sure they’ll store them in their pantry (or for us “older” ones; the “Larder”…which is apprapo for this group).
Nice to be out, er…back in Crustwood. I’ve missed the last few days because I was being held as a boy-toy by a famous Starlet in an exotic location..Looks like I missed a lot but am hoping there’s still some suds left in the BB Keg and the pic of Jer in the speedo won’t be repeated..Gotta go to check in with my…“agent”.
Methinks something smells rotten in the state of Crustwood….I hope they have a 101 uses for rotten apples. Usually one rotten apple doesn’t spoil the bunch, but in this case, all of them are. lol
@Toenails, I thought that was car door and did not notice fan (but I’m not yet awake, drinking my fresh lime juice).@loveslife, I was thinking they paid by the sack they filled (so would have been no bargain. How would they prove all were from ground? (not all would immediately become smelly).
In any case, just another opportunity to wonder at our strange fellows of Crustwood who never seem to get it right.
Ddn’t they read about the cases of botulism people got from drinking cider made from windfalls. Its dangerous to eat apples that fall on the ground. HOWEVER the Penny stomachs are so inured to questionable food……..But the gas, oh the gas…..erk……Must. Get. To. Brain. Bleach. Thank goodness Susan had the tanker truck fill the tank under the house last week.

And I noticed Tigger’s – yes, they are not locally grown I’m sure. A few weeks ago, Sprouts had 10/$1 as I remember – and I found 10 decent ones. Just got 3/$1 today at Albertson’s.

I wonder why there is a section of a 727’s fuselage and a Holiday Inn box fan in today’s panel. I wonder.
