The key word, Burl, is “think.” 2old believes Burl thinks about food, but I disagree. This is reptilian brain stuff. There’s no thought involved, he just swallows food whole because that’s how to get more in more quickly. Whisper “HoHo” around him and watch his heart rate increase and his beady eyes focus. He’d hiss if he could. Wait, what’s that sound?
Well really…. Burl would have thought of that. He’d have invented digital cameras … maybe even the space station….
Also, cured cancer, and probably solved the international financial crisis…If only…if only….If only he weren’t so stupid, lazy, self-centered, greedy, selfish and … did I mention lazy? And stupid?
So you see, he has a right to ask that question…..because he was thiiiis close.
Planet Burl is a lovely, foggy place.
BTW…. good zinger from Jerry….though the laziness implied obviously isn’t the only barrier to Burl’s success as an inventor.
The thing is, Jerry can’t tell how stupid the others are, cos he’s not exactly Einstein himself. In fact, he’s not even Burl.
I like Jerry’s answers to Burl’s remarks better than the others, at least he’s honest. Yes Jer. isn’t the sharpest knife, but he isn’t exactly a butter knife.
I think Burl is complementing him. Yea Velcro is easier than tying laces I wonder if Joy does it for him??
Jerry’s a dip, but every now and then he fires a decent zinger into one of the useless twits. Burl’s only ideas last year were to leave work a hour earlier because he are his double cheeseburger at his desk and his idea to order double gravy on his biscuits.
Should be a “Good Bye” special for a Zenith, they won’t be getting another shipment of those. Next month the special will be RCA. The $799 seems high until you consider the rarity of the item.
As to the relative intelligence of this lot, it doesn’t amount to a hill of beans, but Jerry is at least smart enough to keep Verla fooled into thinking he’s special. Joy also adores Burl (but she HAS to, now that their married).
I’d never marry again, but very happy with my new man – and camping was GREAT!
Purple… I think you mean " that Jerry would notice"? Larry seems to have noticed. (I’m sorry…. I hate to pick on typos, cos I make so many myself…. unless of course they’re funny… cough…)
Gymshoe… absolutely! I agree with Finny Girl…. Hard to get a better deal for the under-$12-a -YEAR that it costs. ($11.88) That comes to 3 cents a day for the whole site…. and I spend hours here.
People will always comment that there are ad blockers that will also stop pop-ups… in fact, your browser should have a setting that’ll stop most of them.
But I’ve gone that route… yeah, fewer ads…. sometimes blank banners…. but the pages are different… with Pro, it’s a clean, more useful page, and the only banners or links are for new comics or other GoComics stuff I might want to see.
Dazz, I have no idea what you’re downloading from this site, or what you mean it’s “activating” … but in 4 years here, and at least 5 previous on Comics.com, I’ve never had to disable my ordinary add-ons, nor triggered anything from anything on my comics.
If that ever happened to me, I’d update my anti-virus software to make sure I had new definitions, and run a full anti-virus and anti-spyware scan, to check for any malware on my system. The kind of sites you’ve said you visited may be fun, but are also quite notorious for “stealth” downloads of adware and trojans… not viruses but little hidden programs that “serve” ads, steal data, and contact other people’s computers.
Yes Susan, I have very good (Norton 360) protection, but I’ve been to many “iffy” sites and I like things that allow me to download videos etc. Even the site where I got some of the animated avatars may have also loaded some of those, and I figured she may have done something like that. I find that usually now it is not an entire program but they still manage to sneak in some “add-ons” (very hard to delete entirely, and not necessary to do so with my PCs capacity) but easy to deactivate.
Not all of my iffy sites are naughty – but many are just freeware because as a senior on fixed income I try to save when possible.
