Okay… I have to admit… I have had a long standing protest. Here in the States we power up the Christmas Tree somewhere close to Thanksgiving. Outdoor lights are around the same time. But come Christmas – – they go off. Winter – the most depressing time of the year has just started and all the bright happy things are suddenly gone. It makes the mood even gloomier with it being so dark. People shuffling around knowing they have (once again) of drawn their credit card and are forcing themselves to work to try and pay it off before next Christmas! If we are going to try and cheer each other up in this horrible year – let’s turn the lights on and keep them on as long as we are able. I know… that might mean we finally turn off the strings of lights around Valentines Day. But wouldn’t it improve next year? Just a little???
Hanukkah oh Hanukkah let’s light the menorah, we’ll have a party, we’ll all dance the Hora, … latkes and overstuffed jelly donuts do it for me every year!!!
I never shut mine off this year. Granted the colours are not exclusive to Christmas but the lights are ON :D Many of our townfolk have lit up their yards early this year.. I like it. Fun to road trip around town to see all the lights and decs : )
We haven’t started decorating. But I did start wrapping the presents and leaving them in the living room. I made this change after last year’s incident where dad gave me something to hide for mom. I forgot where I hid it and didn’t find til the spring.

I think lots of people are feeling like the dogs. I’ve been seeing lots of trees up since the first of November.

I’m with you! My Christmas trees are already up and the lights on the house have been on for at least 2 weeks!
