Mr. Ming: Welcome, Mr. Duke. My name is Mr. Ming. It is my pleasure to be your host here at the Peking Opera. Duke: Well, thanks, Mr. Ming. Mr. Ming: Tonight we will be seeing "Song of the Tiger". It is about a despot landlord who captures a wounded PLA platoon leader by tricking his trusting comrades. In the end... Duke: ... in the end, they destroy the despot landlord, and cheers ring across the skies in praise of Chairman Mao. Mr. Ming: You've already seen it! Duke: No, no - lucky guess - lead the way.
Too funny! And just a few years later, this scenario almost played out in real life. “Mao’s Last Dancer” is about a ballet dancer who realizes that the politics in Chinese dancing destroyed it.
