Voice from television: Today, in a surprise announcement, White House head tulip B.J. Eddy was fired from his long-held post on the east lawn. Ed Bradley was there. Bradley: For eight consecutive springs now, B.J. Eddy has led the White tulips in their famed festivals of color, dazzling the senses of untold thousands of White House visitors. But as of today, for head tulip Eddy, the perennials are over. On the recommendation of the Carter transition team, the top bulb was unceremoniously removed from the garden! B.J., who is dormant this time of year, had no comment.
