Joanie: *sigh* I wonder if it's time to go to bed yet. Rick: Is there something wrong, Joanie? You haven't said a word all night. Joanie: I dunno. I guess I'm just a little depressed. Rick: About what? Joanie: Nothing special. I just get depressed from time to time. Don't you? Rick: Not really. Actually, women are much more prone to it than men. There's a growing body of evidence which suggests it may have to do with a more pronounced biological need in women for attachment bonds. Rick: Attachment bonds are thought to have been essential to the survival of the species. Unfortunately, they also leave women vulnerable to depression, which is usually a response to disruption or uncertainty in an important relationship. Rick: Um... of course, that doesn't really apply in our... Jonaie: Now I'm really depressed.
