Mark: And now, time for WBBY's preppy update! Today, in Memorial Hall, George Plimpton speaks on "breath control and the prepppy accent." A stroke of good luck, campers! We have on the line Miss Muffy Brandon, White House topsider and today's WBBY preppy profile! Muffy, I understand you're helping Mrs. Reagan start an exciting new outreach program! Could you tell us about it? Voice: I'd love to, Mark... Recently, the First Lady has been very caught up in the new mood of voluntarism. Even though the Reagans give literally hundreds of dollars annually to charity, this year she wanted to do more! Mark: Did she have a cause in mind? Voice: Yes, she knew she wanted to work with overpriveleged kids. Because of constant changes in values, Mrs. Reagan feels young preppies today are confused about which designers to go to, how much to spend on china, and other painful dilemmas. Mrs. Reagan was afraid that without guidance, many of these youngsters might never make the Social Register, so she decided to enlist the help of some of her oldest and dearest friends from Smith College, tastemakers all! Mark: And that's how the foster grandpreppy program was born? Voice: Right. She felt these kids could be saved from a life of faux pas.
