Roland: Senator Garn, as you know, many people feel your trip is the most extraordinary junket in the history of Congress. Wouldn't it be better to let a poet or essayist go first, someone who can describe the space experience to the public with eloquence? Senator: Don't worry, I'll be eloquent. I'll be getting my staff to write a major speech about what the trip was like. Roland: But...they're not going. How will they know? Senator: Oh, hell, they can work from photos.
Jake Garn: US Senator from Utah 74-93. Flew on the Discovery shuttle mission 4/12/85. His space sickness was so legendary that astronauts began using it as a measurement; one Garn was the sickest someone could possibly be.
