Mark: "'We just want a fair share', said Chrystler's chairman..." "We think the Japanese people should have access to poorly designed, oversized cars with steering columns on the wrong side." And we're back chatting with captain of industry James Andrews, here in the nation's captial looking for alittle regulatory relief! I'm guessing you'll be using the back door, eh, Mr. A? Jim Andrews: We have a contact on Quayle's competetive council, yes. But we need it! The environmental and safety regulations are killing us! Killing us! My company had another huge earnings loss last year-for the third year in a row! Our oil rig division alone lost $175 million! We've had to cut to the bone! Last year, I had to send 5,000 jobs overseas! Why? Because of the feds! They're trying to run my business! They've got their hands into everything! I tell you, nothing's sacred anymore, nothing! Mark: Not even your $7 million salary? Jim Andrews: No. That's still pretty sacred. But other than that, nothing!
