Mr. President, as you know, governor Clinton has taken a terrible beating these past few months over allegations of marital infidelity...since the issue has been inflamed in part by your supporters, the question has arisen as to whether governor Clinton is being held ot a standard from which you are exempt...we in the press are naturally reluctant to pursue this difficult question until such time as you make a statement which would then of course, be subject to all the normal rules of verification. It is therefore my painful duty, as determined by lot, to ask you the following direct question: Mr. President, have you ever had an extramarital affair? George Bush: No. Press: Let's go!
