Mike: Hmm...Who should I chat with, Andrea or Jennifer? Jennifer sounds hotter. I'll be there in a minute, J.J. - I'm in the middle of a conversaion. J.J.: An a mighty important one, too, I'm guessing. See, this is one reason why women don't use the net, we have a hard time thinking of little posts between strangers as actual conversations. Mike: J.J., that's ridiculous. Therea are plenty of women on the net. J.J.: Where? In the singles chat groups? Mike: Well, among other places, sure. J.J.: Oh, right, Mike! Women just love to spend hours talking dirty to adolescent, get-a-life net-heads! Give me a break! Mike (typing): Jennifer: You're a woman, aren't you? Jennifer (on chat group): Um...why?
I just want to call bullshit on this as a female who was using the internet during this era. Yes, we were less visible, but there were plenty of us. But mostly not in the singles chats.
