Zonker: Good question here, Mike: "Gentlemen: do you ever feel abandoned by your creator? There must be moments! Curious, Lyle, Newton, MA." Mike: Indeed there are trying moments, Lyle. But all of us understand that good stories usually involve some sort of jeopardy. We also know that the big guy's got our backs, that at the end of the day, he'll be there for all his characters! Zonker: Except for the four he killed off. Mike: but that just keeps us on our toes!
As I said when this originally ran, there was a fifth: Mike’s old boss, Mr. Bellows. After 9/11, we learned that he was one of the casualties. Never mind that a previous strip showed that he no longer had offices at the World Trade Center.
