Alex: Hi, Gram! Where are you? Joanie: Hi, sweetheart, I'm with Ginny Slade. Remember my old pal who ran against Lacey? Alex: Get OUT! Put me on speaker, okay? Then point the phone at her and press record! Joanie: Um... okay. Alex: Hi, Ginny! My name's Alex, and I'm making a film about Lacey Davenport! Did you ever get over your crushing loss? Ginny: I suppose. Alex: Cut! Perfect! Love the edge! Okay, send it on, Gram!
Doesn’t say much for Alex’ research if she doesn’t realize there wasn’t a ‘crushing defeat’. Ginny was running somewhat close to Lacey in the polls. She dropped out of the primary and threw her support to Lacey to save the district from some sleazy establishment candidate. In a sense, Ginny made Lacey’s legend possible.
